Synopsis

Three hunters watch over the Arizona desert enraged as they consider themselves overrun by the flow of illegal immigrants to the United States. In the heat of the desert, his gaze, which at first was looking for deer, moves towards some immigrants, then John opens fire. John coldly returns home without doubting that his shots have defended his homeland.
At home, John is also a husband who enjoys caring for his pregnant wife. Although she is second-generation Mexican-American, John bristles at any suggestion that she is not American. They share the dream of raising their child together on their ranch, but they don’t talk about their interactions with the people who pass by quietly. Every day she secretly leaves bottles of water to help immigrants survive the sweltering heat. John patrols the border as a Minuteman, motivated by his father’s patriotic memories of him.

As usual, the three Minuteman friends gather at the shooting range to practice their aim. His friend Shorty’s inability to hit the target evokes a worrying insecurity. John denounces his concern about the migration problem at the immigration office on a daily basis, but they only give bureaucratic responses and his frustration increases. At Thanksgiving dinner opinion is divided between sympathy and xenophobia.
In the middle of a storm, Shorty shoot thinking he saw the shadow of an immigrant in the dark that they were on John’s property; however, the two are horrified to discover that it was someone else who has been shot.
