    Biographical notes

He began his musical studies at a very young age with various teachers. In 1948 he joined the children’s choir of the Teatro alla Scala, studying with Norberto Mola and Vittore Veneziani, participating in various works of the classical repertoire, under the direction of Maestros Toscanini and Gavazzeni. From the beginning of the sixties, in parallel with his concert career as an opera singer (baritone), he began his studies of composition in the tonal field, with Maestros Sergio Massaron and in the 70s he studied with Manfredi Argento, orchestra conductor. He also began studying operatic vocals with Renata Carosio, a master teacher at the Teatro alla Scala, these studies allowed him to produce works in the vocal area in the following years.

At the beginning of 2000, he took part in a composition competition in the form of contemporary music at the International Academy of Music in Milan at Villa Simonetta, and from 2001 in a three-year advanced course with Alessandro Solbiati in contemporary music composition at the G. Verdi Conservatory in Milan. He then took part in a masterclass with the cellist Dindo and one in composition with Marco Stroppa.

During his studies he engaged in producing various piano sonatas, nocturnes, divertimentos and a suite for piano and two sopranos from Phaedrus’ fables and his production of works refers to both instrumental and vocal musical pieces. Since 2003 he has started to produce works of contemporary music with various instrumental ensembles, duets, trios, quartets, quintets and so on up to triptychs concerts for piano and orchestra, with titles “Chaos”, “Nebulosa” and “Materia”. These compositions were published in 2011/2012.

His compositions have been performed at the Conservatory of Naples, at the Conservatory of Avellino, by prestigious performers, Gaetano Russo on the clarinet, by the orchestra of the Scarlatti Orchestra from Naples, Francesco Solombrino on the violin, Gabriele Pieranunzi on the violin, Ricardo Serrano on the horn, Simonetta Tancredi on the piano, Nicola Cassese on the saxophone. Some other compositions have been performed in Milan in the retirement home for musicians G. Verdi, and for the friends of the Loggione of the Teatro alla Scala, with important artists such as the violinist Eriko Tuschihashi, Antonio Mastalli, Duccio Beluffi, the cellist Yuriko Mikami, Alexandre Zyumbrovskiy, Viola Elena, Faccani and Christof Emanuel Langheim, double bass Andrea Sala, Simonetta Tancredi on the piano, Alessandra Giura Longo on the flute.

At the Conservatory of Naples, a contemporary music laboratory was developed in which he participated alongside Teresa Procaccini. In 2010, at the Archaeological Museum of Naples, a piano festival dedicated to the bicentenary of the birth of “Chopin and Schumann” was held, where his piano Suites “delle dissonanze” were performed with great success by the public and critics.

In recent years he has worked and collaborated with the chamber music teacher Tancredi of the Conservatory Corelli of Messina. In this context he has begun a new production of contemporary chamber music mainly with works for piano, string trio, flute, sextets for wind instruments and piano.
