ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
On the occasion of Patrice Chéreau’s 75th birthday, we look back on the Ring production from Bayreuth in 1976. It is also commonly known as the “century ring” because it was used to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Bayreuth Festival. To this day, this production is considered a benchmark in the history of the interpretation of this work and has taken on an essential role in the history of opera.
Kammersänger Heinz Zednik took part in two roles in this production. In Rheingold he sang Loge and in Siegfried Mime. We met him in the beautiful main hall of the Radio-Kulturhaus for a chat about his time in Bayreuth and working with Patrice Chéreau.
We spoke to him about horses on stage, the premiere reactions and even about an alleged shooting. Watch our exclusive interview here.
