ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
With the world premiere of The Name of the Rose , the opera based on the novel by Umberto Eco commissioned from Francesco Filidei by La Scala together with the Paris Opera, Piermarini returns to the center of the international music scene today. The Name of the Rose , directed by Ingo Metzmacher, is the composer’s third opera after Giordano Bruno and L’inondation . Relying on Eco’s texts that describe the novel as an “opera buffa”, Filidei develops his musical discourse as a symphonic-type supporting structure on which is grafted a succession of arias and recitatives, almost closed forms, whose material is mainly derived from the variation of Gregorian melodies. In conjunction with the performances at La Scala, Milano Musica will also dedicate a monographic edition to Filidei.
Any news as to when RAI tv are showing this?
