  • ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE

In a pre-war era of arms race, political tensions and nationalism, a group of lost souls check in to rest their nerves in the Austrian Alps. In the ensemble we meet the actors Jonas Karlsson, Stina Ekblad, Lennart Jähkel, Magnus Roosmann and Magnus Ehrner together with the opera singers Elin Rombo, Alexandra Büchel, Richard Hamrin, Klas Hedlund, Clara Gunge, Lovisa Huledal and Joakim Larsson. The director is Staffan Valdemar Holm who, together with the set designer Bente Lykke Møller, takes on an operetta of operettas where the atmosphere balances on the border between desperate cheerfulness and total disaster.

The years before the First World War are marked by nationalism, imperialism and an arms race. But who can care about that? Not the guests at the Alpine hotel White Horse, anyway. Instead, they devote themselves to the sweet life of love affairs and champagne to lighthearted tunes under the Habsburg flag.

The original title is Im Weissen Rössl and takes place at the beautifully situated inn of the same name in St. Wolfgang am Wolfgangsee in Austria. The music is written by Ralph Benatzky but the script and lyrics have been rewritten and adapted many times by a large number of authors. Magnus Lindman has made a translation into Swedish adapted to Folkoperan which is based on the original but which together with Staffan Valdemar Holm has been further developed.
