  Programme

  Under the title War and Peace, the Associació Messies Participatiu presents this concert as a tribute to Pau Casals on the 150th anniversary of his birth. The concert begins and ends with works by the composer, who fought all his life for peace. We will hear him, at the beginning of the concert, in his speech at United Nations.

  Works by Felix Mendelssohn are offered that reflect the human desire for peace in a world marked by instability. For the composer, peace is a spiritual ideal. In the second part we will hear the Missa in tempori belli, by Franz Joseph Haydn, which refers to the war that Austria was then waging against France.
