On Wednesday, October 23, the long-awaited final of the “Women in Music V” Lyric Singing Competition was held at the Tánica Auditorium, organized by the Chilean Chapter of the National Museum of Women in the Arts (NMWA-CHILE) together with the Music Institute of the Alberto Hurtado University. The first three places in the competition went to the sopranos: Pilar Garrido, Camila Romero and Camila Guggiana.
A demanding technical jury composed of: Alejandra Kantor (President of the Board of Directors of the Richard Wagner Foundation), Andrés Rodríguez Pérez (Former General Director of the Teatro Municipal de Santiago), Andrés Rodríguez Spoerer (Music Manager of the Ibáñez Atkinson Foundation), Carmen Gloria Larenas (General Director of the Teatro Municipal de Santiago), Carmen Luisa Letelier (National Arts Award and Professor at the University of Chile), Christoph Ritter (Academic pianist of lied and repertoire, International Jury) and Violaine Soublette (President of the Jury and Professor at the UAH Music Institute), were in charge of evaluating the 43 singers who applied, classifying 12 for the semi-final held on October 21, to later reach the list of 6 finalists.
