ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
Gli uomini visto dall’alto (Men Seen from Above) can be considered a collective work, written by Antonio Giacometti and students of the Composition class at the Vecchi-Tonelli Conservatory: Francesco Luppi, Filippo Passarella, and Riccardo Bazzoni. The work, which is classified as a chamber opera, pays homage to Jean-Paul Sartre on the 120th anniversary of his birth and addresses the issues and concerns surrounding the phenomenon of femicide, interpreted through a sociological lens, free of false rhetoric. The libretto, written by Giovanni Peli, draws on Sartre’s collection Le Mur (published in 1939), specifically the story Erostrato, which focuses on the folly of an extreme act.
