ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
On the occasion of the 350th anniversary of the death of the master of polyphony, Les Cris de Paris interpret the most spectacular psalms of Heinrich Schütz in the heart of the Saint-Jacques church in Reims.
Considered the greatest German composer before Johann Sebastian Bach, Heinrich Schütz (1585-1672) propagated a new musical language of which Claudio Monteverdi and Giovanni Gabrieli, his teachers, were the architects: Venetian polychorality. He develops treasures of inventiveness between Renaissance music and German Baroque, which constitute both sources of fascination and challenges for performers. On the occasion of the 350th anniversary of his death, Les Cris de Paris pays tribute to him from the nave of the Saint-Jacques church in Reims by offering a dive into his most poetic corpus.
