Gagarin – a space opera is a Norwegian television opera , written by Håkon Berge (music) and Bing & Bringsværd (libretto) It was shown on NRK TV on 12 April 1991, on the day thirty years after Soviet Russian Yuri Gagarin completed the first manned space flight and orbited the Earth in Vostok 1 . The music was recorded by the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Håkon Berge.
