Freitag aus Licht is the opera of temptation: temptation to use the body as a musical instrument, temptation to transform one sound into another. Karlheinz Stockhausen is particularly interested in the movement of sound in space, in creating “mobile sound reliefs”.
Freitag is made up of three musical dimensions: the first, Weltraum , is an electronic composition developed by Karlheinz Stockhausen in his studios. The second consists of twelve ballet scenes including twelve couples of dancers disguised as everyday objects. The third consists of the dramatic action linking the protagonists of the libretto and their respective children.
