A musical meeting beyond the ordinary.
In A NORRLÄNDSKT REQUIEM, some of northern Sweden’s most skilled words and sound artists gather to express the feelings that the encounter with death creates. Here is bottomless despair and frothy rage but also wonder, reconciliation, hope and future.
Composer Fredrik Sixten wrote the obituary when his friend passed away when he was only 37 years old and the music is a combination of modernism, folk tone, tradition and sometimes jazz-like accordion.
For this, you can meet Bengt Pohjanen’s direct address in the lyrics in Swedish in combination with the Requiem Fair’s lyrics in Latin.
Join us on a musical journey of anger and frustration over the unimaginable. Here is chaos, fear of death, despair and loneliness in the middle of a surreal, swaying reality. But even the translucent, folklore is here when the sufferer finally sees the light and is reconciled to everything earthly imperfect.
During this stage premiere, Bengt Pohjanen will recite between the movements in a new translation.
