The Verdi opera “Ernani” is the first highlight at the 2023 Bregenz Festival. On Wednesday, July 19, the music festival will traditionally be opened by Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen and the Vienna Symphony Orchestra. In the evening, the first opera premiere in the house will take place with Verdi’s early work “Ernani”. A day later, the revival of Giacomo Puccini’s “Madame Butterfly” is on the festival program as a play on the lake. Presenter Martina Köberle will conduct live interviews with festival artists, Eva Teimel will comment live on the opening of the festival.
