  • ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE

The concert began with the “Song of the Toreador”, a well-known aria from the opera Carmen, performed by Jiménez Peláez. The piano part, being an orchestral transcription, was awkward and very difficult, but the young maestro Russi resolved it with skill and clarity, always maintaining a suitable relaxation, proof of his excellent technical preparation. In this first part, Jiménez Peláez tackled “Eri tu” from the opera Un Baile de Máscaras by Verdi, the duet “Dio che nell’ alma infondere” from the opera Don Carlo by the same composer, and “O Mimí tu più non torni” from La Bohème by Puccini. In addition, Jiménez Peláez performed the famous song “Música Proibita” by Gastaldon, originally written for a female voice but which tenors and baritones have adopted throughout history.

Ruggerio’s voice is very efficient in the middle and lower registers, but in the upper register it is spectacular, tackling the highest notes of the tenor register with ease and courage. He excelled in arias such as “Pourquoi me réveiller” from Massenet’s Werther and the famous “E lucevan le stelle” from Puccini’s Tosca, in addition to the aforementioned duets and “Dime que sí” by Esparza Oteo.

In the second part, they performed songs such as “Mucho corazón” by Ema Elena Valdelamar, “Solo Dios” by Chucho Monge, “Mía” and “Yo soy mexicano” by Manuel Esperón, and “El rey” by JA Jiménez, among others.
