A special highlight to kick off the season is the song recital by the internationally acclaimed mezzo-soprano Elīna Garanča and artistic director Matthias Schulz on the piano.
The program features a diverse selection of well-known works from the Romantic era and Verismo by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Hector Berlioz, Johannes Brahms, Robert Schumann, and Pietro Mascagni, as well as rare pieces by Henri Duparc, famous for his musical settings of Charles Baudelaire’s poetry, and songs by the composers Jāzeps Mediņš and Jāzeps Vītols—a tribute to Elīna Garanča’s homeland, Latvia.
