The concert features works by Monteverdi, Strozzi and Cavalli with a mix of ancient and modern instruments.
For 13 years, the Nuevo Mundo Orchestra has toured international, national and local stages, disseminating the repertoire from the 16th to the 18th centuries with the performance of replicas of historical instruments played by musicians who have studied the music of this era.
During June 2024, the Nuevo Mundo Baroque Orchestra worked on the recording of its first album, “EL PODER DE LA VOZ”, which revolves around figures of the Italian Baroque. An album that mixes historical reproduction instruments, folklore, Afro-American music and great composers from the early 1600s such as Bárbara Strozzi, Claudio Monteverdi, Francesco Cavalli, among others.
The instruments were played by 12 musicians accompanied by two renowned national lyrical singers, the soprano Patricia Cifuentes and the baritone, Patricio Sabaté, both with a close relationship with the New World and their work from the O’Higgins region.
