ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
The Munich Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Ulf Schirmer and with Klaus Florian Vogt as tenor soloist dedicate this concert to the great figures of opera literature. The concert begins with Mozart’s overture to “The Magic Flute” and Tamino’s aria “This portrait is enchantingly beautiful” . Florestan’s dramatic entrance follows with Beethoven’s “God! How dark here!” from Fidelio . Weber is represented with the overture to “The Freischütz” and Max’s arias. The focus then shifts to Richard Wagner’s Meistersinger von Nürnberg with its prelude and scene “Fanget an!” . This is followed by the overture to “Tannhäuser” and the Roman tale . The program concludes with Lehár’s “ Your is my whole heart ” from Land of Smiles , Richard Strauss’s “Cäcilie” and one of his most famous songs from Opus 27, “ Morning”.
