Symphony No. 9 in E Minor, Op. 95
“From the New World”

This concert recording from 2017 celebrates Antonín Dvořák’s operatic work. Conductor Andris Nelsons led the orchestra and soprano Kristine Opolais through an inspiring program.

Privately, Kristine Opolais and conductor Andris Nelsons were still a couple at the time. Today they are divorced. Opolais has appeared on the world’s most important stages, such as La Scala in Milan, the Metropolitan Opera in New York and the Bavarian State Opera. Andris Nelsons is Gewandhaus Kapellmeister of the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra and chief conductor and music director of the Boston Symphony Orchestra.

After the overture to «Othello», Kristine Opolais sings arias from «Rusalka». The soprano had already taken on the title role of this opera at the New York Met and at the Bavarian State Opera.
