ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
Anna Kuzmina, “Dreams and Not Dreams”
Mono-opera based on poems by Marina Tsvetaeva for soprano, choir and symphony orchestra.
The action takes place at night, some numbers are reality, some are a dream. Through thoughts of her loneliness and nightmares, the heroine eventually comes to the light.
Tatyana Chudova, “Von Meck – Tchaikovsky”
Theatrical premiere of a one-act epistolary opera based on letters from composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and the famous patroness Nadezhda Filaretovna von Meck for 4 soloists and symphony orchestra.
The opera reveals the personalities of the characters not only through letters to each other, but also tells about what the composer and the patroness really thought during their correspondence, which we learn from their diaries.
Thus, each character has two voices – internal and external. Composer Tatyana Chudova decided to do this by having two performers for each character: Von Meck’s letters are performed by a soprano, and her internal voice by a mezzo-soprano. And Tchaikovsky is performed by a tenor and a bass.
