Douce and Bluebeard is a 2002 musical tale in opera form by Isabelle Aboulker .
Douce and Bluebeard was commissioned by Radio France . The libretto is by Eymery Christian . The work is for soloist, children’s choir and orchestra. It is based on the tale of the same name by Charles Perrault . Douce is the wife of a rich man with a blue beard. One day, the latter goes on a journey and entrusts Douce with a small key. The only prohibition is that she must not open a small cabinet. The work was premiered at the Maison de la Radio , in Paris, on September 15, 2002
In 2011, the work was performed at the Lyon Opera in a production by Jean-Romain Vesperini
In 2025, the work was performed again at the Maison de la Radio, with the Maîtrise de Radio France directed by Marie-Noëlle Maerten, with a production by Dominique Moaty .
