ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
Dora has had enough. She’s tired of it: her surroundings, her family, herself. But above all, the demand to finally make something of herself and her own life. She would prefer to wait motionless until the world “pulverizes into dust.” To escape her boredom, she resorts to magic and uses a midnight ritual to summon the devil, but does not recognize him when he actually appears. Only when the devil drives Berthold, who is hopelessly in love with Dora, into misfortune, does Dora believe she understands where to look for a way out of her situation. She challenges the devil to meet again.
