The North American premiere of “Dinner with Handel,” a spellbinding operatic journey that invites you into the heart of Handel’s London home for an intimate and unforgettable evening. Recorded live February 11, 2024 at Kaul Auditorium, Reed College, Portland, Oregon.
With a libretto by Stephen Pettitt and musical arrangements and recitatives by Julian Perkins, “Dinner with Handel” weaves together the melodies of Handel, Vivaldi, Purcell, and Arne with witty English re-texting and newly composed recitatives, resulting in a fast-paced, humorous, and poignant exploration of Handel’s complex personality and relationships. Join us for a romp through history, where the boundaries between reality and fiction blur, and the brilliance of Baroque music shines anew.
