ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
Quote ARTE:
“The new production by the Russian director Dmitri Tcherniakov at the Berlin State Opera generated tremendous media coverage. Tcherniakov has consistently modernized the material and moved the events to a research institute in the 1970s, while still retaining the myth as a poetic subtext. The excellent ensemble of singers, the Staatskapelle Berlin and last but not least Christian Thielemann’s baton were enthusiastically celebrated for a musical achievement that is not often experienced.”
