ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
The bridge of San Luis Rey breaks with a buzzing sound and plunges five people into the abyss – inspired by this novella by Thornton Wilders, Hermann Reutter composed his radio opera. We either live by accident and die by accident, or we live according to a plan and die according to a plan. The search for an answer remains irritating. This fictional event, but based on a real bridge in South America, found its way through Thornton Wilder’s great novella via the USA to Europe, to Germany. Here Hermann Reutter created his work in 1954, which will now be staged in our production in 2021 in collaboration with the German-Syrian action artist Manaf Halbouni and the conductor Joachim Tschiedel (Bavarian Theater Academy Munich) – a trip halfway around the world!
