ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
In 2015, the Limoges Opera initiated a participatory project around Cinderella, bringing together more than a hundred children from CE1/CE2 then CM1/CM2 classes. From the order of the libretto and the score to the final performance at the Opera, the project allowed them, in two school years, to approach writing, singing, body expression.
The character of Cinderella also opens up to social and psychological issues that tales have always raised: the place of the young woman in society, blended family, importance of the physical aspect in seduction, reflection of the beauty of spirit in physical beauty, dazzling social ascent, help given thanks to outside intervention, personal merit, transition from a child to that of a young woman, comparison of the tales of Perrault and Grimm, comparison with foreign versions on the different continents… to name only the most obvious lines of work.
