ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
Money and law make common cause in B. Traven’s death ship. If you do not have the first, the second is not on his side. And those who do not have the law on their side are betrayed and sold for money as having no rights. After losing his papers, Gale, the hero of the death ship, suddenly ends up on the side of those who no longer have rights. No longer tolerated by the international society on land without papers and a residence permit, all he has to do is go to sea. But even at sea he has to hire the so-called death ships, floating hells like the Yorikke, which move weapons as contraband in the unlawful area of the oceans or – like the Lucona and in the novel the Empress of Madagascar – only serve as an insurance claim due to their sinking.
