  Since its creation in 2010 by the Italian conductor Marco GUIDARINI and Youra NYMOFF-SIMONETTI, the Vincenzo Bellini International Belcanto Competition has acquired a solid reputation in the international lyrical landscape. Alone from this characteristic to highlight and promote the Belcantist repertoire, the competition has become an essential step for young singers wishing to embody the great roles of this repertoire, little defended because of the extreme technical and vocal difficulty allowing to approach it.

  ​The Art of Belcanto is undoubtedly the embodiment of the purest, most elegant beauty of Italian operatic writing. It is also the favorite of the most experienced lyricomanias. The requirement of the level required to participate in this competition has made it “The” reference lyrical competition of Belcanto in its noblest expression. This result is due to the relevance of its choices: all the winners are currently pursuing a brilliant international career.

  ​The victory in 2010 of the young soprano Pretty Yende, who can now be found on the greatest operatic stages in the world such as the Metropolitan Opera in New York or the Scala in Milan, definitively consecrated the stature from which the Franco-Italian competition will benefit. .
