  “Concert for the Month of Love and Friendship,” on Thursday, February 5, at 7:30 p.m. at the Melchor Ocampo Theater, under the direction of Enrique Arturo Diemecke and featuring soprano Sofía Ramírez.

  The evening will begin with the overture to La Gazza Ladra by Gioachino Rossini, an energetic and theatrical work. This will be followed by a selection of arias by Giacomo Puccini from iconic operas such as Turandot, La Bohème, Madama Butterfly, Tosca, and Gianni Schicchi, works that explore different facets of love and human emotion.

  The concert will conclude with Ludwig van Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony. This work, among the most emblematic of the classical repertoire, is notable for its transition from profound initial drama to a triumphant conclusion.

  The guest soloist, Sofía Ramírez, is a distinguished Mexican soprano trained at the Gabriel Mijares Lyric Workshop and the Pan-American University. She has participated in various opera productions in Mexico City and was a guest artist at the 2024 Morelia International Opera Festival, where she sang the role of Micaela in Georges Bizet’s opera Carmen.
