ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE

The traditional Christmas concert from the Vienna Konzerthaus brings together a colorful array of performers again this year: Jamie Barton, Miriam Kutrowatz and Vincent Schirrmacher sing Christmas carols from all over the world. Also there are the string duo BartolomeyBittmann, the Wiener Singakademie and the Vienna Boys’ Choir.

The American singer Bing Crosby sang “I’ll be home for Christmas” in one of his most famous Christmas carols. The traditional Christmas concert “Christmas in Vienna” is finally returning to the Vienna Konzerthaus after a two-year break due to the pandemic. Schubert, Handel and “Silent Night, Holy Night”: “Christmas in Vienna” has become an essential part of the Christmas season in the Danube city and offers a musical excursion into Christmas traditions from all over the world.
At this year’s concert, too, a number of artistic personalities will ensure top-class musical enjoyment: alongside the American mezzo-soprano Jamie Barton, the instrumental duo BartolomeyBittmann will be on stage. The Viennese soprano Miriam Kutrowatz stepped in for Katharina Konradi, who was ill at short notice. Unfortunately, just a few days before the recording, Rolando Villazón was also caught. He also had to cancel due to illness. In his place, Vincent Schirrmacher takes over the part of the tenor. Together with the Vienna Singing Academy, the Vienna Boys’ Choir and the children’s and youth choir Superar, the forthcoming Christmas celebrations are to be heralded. The ORF Radio Symphony Orchestra Vienna will play under the direction of conductor Claire Levacher for the first time.
