ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE

The world-famous Georgian soprano Nino Machaidze performed in Hungary for the first time on February 22, 2020, as the star guest of the Opera’s festive program. The institution welcomed its audience to the Erkel Theater for the annual themed evening this season as well. The 2014 Silver Rose Ball was dedicated to Richard Strauss’ opera, The Rose Knight, in 2015 the Faust theme, in 2016 Shakespeare’s works dominated the event, and the 2017 “Hungarian Season” evening was subordinated to the creative imagination of János Háry by the creative team of the gala evening . In 2018, the “Rings of the Ring” season focused on the theme of the ring, and the 2019 carnival evening was imbued with Puccini and his Italy. This year, in the Christian Season, it is so relevant – and not in small part hilarious! – episodes were added to the program, which are nourished by the Judeo-Christian roots of European opera and ballet culture and/or enriched by ancient Greek and Roman culture. After Kasarova, Gheorghiu, Domingo, Benedikt and D’Arcangelo, as well as Alagna and Kurzak, as well as Yoncheva, the Georgian soprano Nino Machaidze is the main guest of the carnival evening.
