The drama begins on May 13th, Vienna fragrant with lilacs, acacia blossoms, and horse manure. It’s a full moon, and the planets are in a promising alignment. Mars is forming a conjunction with Venus. Carmen Carmencita Pospischil, “the most passionate girl in all of Ottakring,” a police inspector, and a ardent lover collide and become entangled in a bittersweet tragedy.
Stefanie Reinsperger is the “one and only true, 100% authentic” Carmen, who lays her amorous traps in the Ottakringer Brewery. Love, blood, and passion are also the essential ingredients in Susanne Wolf’s version of Bizet’s operatic hit. Gerhard Sammer and his Tyrolean Chamber Orchestra InnStrumenti provide the dramatic soundtrack. Olé! A Jeunesse production in collaboration with Ottakringer Brewery and the Tyrolean Chamber Orchestra InnStrumenti.
