Montreal’s Carmen in Four Seasons in Tribute to Dame Sonia Del Rio under the Honorary Presidency of Dr. Sharon Azrieli, CQ.
A presentation of Bizet’s opera Carmen, revisited by renowned director and mezzo Odette Beaupré. “Montreal’s Carmen in Four Seasons” offers a resolutely contemporary and urban Carmen performed by the renowned young mezzo Rose Naggar-Tremblay, accompanied on stage by singers from various Canadian cities. The action takes place in Canada in 2023, in our present day, with street gangs replacing the bandits of Seville.
A unique presentation that pays tribute to the renowned flamenco dancer, the late Dame Sonia Del Rio (née Sonia Boisvenu). Sonia Del Rio worked alongside great choreographers and dancers, such as José Greco, and with prestigious companies, such as La Scala in Milan, where she was a soloist. Having passed away in October 2023, she bequeathed her costumes to the FOSE, costumes that the public will be able to admire in this production.
