Based on a traditional Tenth by Mexican poet and troubadour Guillermo Velázquez. It uses the lively rhythms of the Mexican huapango to reflect on the ongoing for freedom and identity. - Movement 2: “Without Lament”
Inspired by the famous 1854 speech attributed to Chief Seattle, environmental approaching stewardship and the sacred relationship between humanity and nature. - Movement 3: “Aphorisms” (Aphorisms)
Centered on the philosophical teachings and non-violent principles of Mahatma Gandhi. - Movement 4: “I Have a Dream”
Based on Martin Luther King Jr.’s iconic 1963 civil rights speech. Marquez uniquely fuses this message with the dark, rhythmic undertones of an Argentine milonga.
