The Teatro San Carlo pays homage to the patron saint of the city with a special concert at the Cathedral of Naples. José Luis Basso conducts the Orchestra and Chorus of the Neapolitan Massimo in Gaetano Manna’s “Cantata per San Gennaro”, a first performance in modern times. Composed in 1788, the “Cantata per San Gennaro” was performed during the vigil on the eve of the miracle and is part of the process of rediscovery and enhancement of the eighteenth-century Neapolitan heritage, inextricably linked to San Carlo.
