Callas and Onassis is a television miniseries broadcast for the first time on Canale 5 in 2005.
The miniseries, composed of two episodes of 100 minutes each, is co-produced by Lux Vide , RTI and Pampa Production with the participation of Telecinco . The direction is by Giorgio Capitani . The soundtrack was composed by the religious Marco Frisina .
The fiction tells the story of two important historical figures: Maria Callas , considered by many to be the greatest singer of the 20th century (played by Luisa Ranieri ) and Aristotle Onassis , one of the richest men in the world in the 20th century (played by Gérard Darmon ). The fiction has an international artistic cast, which also includes Anna Valle – in the role of Jacqueline Kennedy , wife and then widow of John Kennedy , later rumoured for an alleged love affair with Robert Kennedy , but already a coveted prey of Onassis, before becoming his new wife – and Serena Autieri – who plays the role of Tina Livanos, daughter of the shipowner Stavros Livanos (a powerful and very rich shipowner, Onassis’ bitter rival) and Onassis’ first wife.
