Argument
Contemporary opera, Bintou Wéré tells of the dangerous crossing of the desert of a caravan of Africans on their way to Europe, their utopias and their hopes. The main character is Bintou Wéré (Djénéba Koné), a former pregnant child soldier, accompanied by her companions in misfortune, the potential fathers of her children. The opera follows them from a small village in the Sahel to the barbed wire in Melilla (a Spanish enclave in Morocco), where Bintou Wéré hopes to give birth to his child. But arrived at the goal, they turn back: at the end of this odyssey is only disillusion.
