ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
The creative opera ‘범(Beom)’ is a modern reinterpretation of the traditional fairy tale ‘The brother and sister who became the sun and the moon’ in a modern way. And it is a comprehensive work of art that unravels Korean fairy tales using Korean and Western instruments, bel canto vocal music, and Western modern music techniques.
‘범(Beom)’ in the title of this work is pure Korean meaning tiger, and at the same time, it also represents the Chinese word ‘Beom(汎)’ which means ‘all-round’. The fact that the different sounds of Korean and Western instruments come together and harmonize in the creative opera ‘Beom’ implicitly contain the reconciliation between a tiger and a brother and sister that seemed to never be possible. In the year of the tiger in 2022, the creative opera ‘Beom’ gives us the virtue of forgiveness.
