Benjamin Bernheim shines at the Olivier Messiaen Amphitheatre in the Opéra Bastille, performing repertoire from his album “Boulevard des Italiens,” released in 2022 by Deutsche Grammophon. The tenor is accompanied on the piano by Félix Ramos, singing arias from Massenet’s Manon and Verdi’s Don Carlos, as well as French versions of arias from Puccini’s Tosca and Madama Butterfly. Excerpts from rarely performed French operas by Cherubini and Mascagni round out the recital. In interview segments, Bernheim discusses the original concept behind his album.
