ALL BACH CANTATAS. Season VII “300 Years Later” Concerto 3

All Bach cantatas with Roman Nasonov Season 7. “300 Years Later” Concert 3 Collegium Musicum Ensemble Artistic Director and Conductor — Oleg Romanenko Titular Organist of the Papal Basilica of St. Michael in Madrid Daniel Salvador — organ The Collegium Musicum ensemble under the direction of Oleg Romanenko continues a grandiose project, within the framework of which all Bach’s cantatas are performed on historical instruments in the space of the cathedral. The seventh season of the unique cycle is dedicated to the anniversary date — exactly 300 years ago, Johann Sebastian took up the post of cantor of the Church of St. Thomas in Leipzig, transforming the musical landscape of the city and, ultimately, the entire future history of music. The 2023/24 season will feature cantatas created in Bach’s first year in his new position. Commentary by the leading expert on early sacred music, Associate Professor of the Moscow Conservatory Roman Nasonov helps listeners to understand the meaning of Bach’s masterpieces. The program includes: Cantata BWV 179 Siehe zu, daß deine Gottesfurcht nicht Heuchelei sei (“Do not be distrustful of the fear of the Lord”) Cantata BWV 89 Was soll ich aus dir machen, Ephraim (“How shall I deal with you, Ephraim”) Cantata BWV 70 Wachet! betet! betet! wachet! (“Be alert! Pray! Pray! Be alert!”)
