Female figures and Baroque music meet in Amazone, a concert led by lutenist Thomas Dunford, his Jupiter ensemble and Franco-Italian mezzo-soprano Lea Desandre.
The mythical Amazons inspired a whole section of Baroque musical creation, allowing Francesco Cavalli, André-Cardinal Destouches and Antonio Vivaldi to paint portraits of women full of ambiguity and duality.
It is this repertoire inhabited by intrepid female warriors that Thomas Dunford and Lea Desandre explore with this concert, two young artists wishing to make the magic of Baroque music more accessible
