Recorded on location at the Teatro Nuovo, in Spoleto in 1996, the opera tells the story of Amahl, a disabled boy who lives with his single mum somewhere in Palestine, 2000 years ago. One night, they don’t have enough to eat and try to go to sleep, but Amahl sees a very bright star in the sky and meets three strangers looking for a child.
