My song cycle is based on poems from Simone Lappert’s volume of poetry “längst fällige Verwilderung” © 2022 Diogenes Verlag AG Zurich. Her texts are about inner and outer landscapes, about processes and transformations, about encapsulation and breaking up, but also about self-discovery and determination. They are very haunting images that are shockingly sharp, but also extremely funny at times. There is also a very tactile physicality inherent in several poems, which I immediately read musically: When “eyelashes crunch” or “bones growl,” I immediately heard sounds inside. It is also gestures and movement vectors that move and challenge me musically. What fascinated me incredibly was this view of the inside, the invisible depths and abysses behind the facade: Simone Lappert, for example, also addresses doubts, fears and changes within that resemble a kind of metamorphosis: a process of “long overdue rewilding”. is always a feminist one.
