ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
Based on the first part of the trilogy “Os Condemned”, by Oswald de Andrade, the story takes place in São Paulo, in the 1920s. The writer João do Carmo loves the young Alma, who does not correspond to him. However, the 20-year-old girl falls in love with Mauro, a pimp who attacks her, forcing her to prostitute herself in cabarets. This troubled relationship permeates the opera “Alma”, composed (music and libretto) by Santoro in 1985.
