ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
Adiós a la bohemia” premiered, in its modified and final version, at the Apolo theater in Barcelona in 1945. Later, in 1972, and directed by Sorozábal himself and with María Orán in the role of Trini, it was performed within the Madrid Opera Festival at the Teatro de la Zarzuela.
The work evokes the Madrid of the suburbs years ago, the neighborhood brownie, the long-haired violinist, the unfortunate conspiracy of the artist who fails and the woman who fails.
In a neighborhood café, Ramón awaits the arrival of Trini, a young woman with a light life with whom he has lived, whom he has loved and still loves. This one arrives and both start a dialogue in which tenderness, discouragement, the sweetness of romantic memories from other times come together… As a consequence, that old love seems to be reborn, but the sad reality emerges again, represented by a pimp who comes looking for Trini.
