ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE

The British The King’s Consort, known worldwide for its numerous performances and recordings of Handel, will present female figures in concert with Lucy Crowe who touched people as abandoned heroines even in Handel’s time. Those pieces of music in which the composers were inspired by these female figures and set corresponding texts to music as cantatas are correspondingly emotional. Handel, too, wrote deeply felt, compassionate music about several abandoned women, for example about the desolate Armida (“Armida abbandonata” HMV 105) or about Agrippina with her strongly dramatic outbursts.

Lucy Crowe has been a world-famous soprano since her debut as Sophie in “Rosenkavalier”, who regularly performs at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Bavarian State Opera, the Metropolitan Opera and other major opera houses as well as renowned festivals such as those in Salzburg occurs. Last but not least, she was also acclaimed as an interpreter of Purcell and Handel’s music.
