ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
A Compadecida was written by José Siqueira based on a text by Ariano Suassuna and the score underwent a restoration process, as stated by Kettle.
“A meticulous work was carried out to recover the score by a team of editors. The opera was performed only once in 1961 at the Theatro Municipal in Rio de Janeiro, so we practically have a re-release of it. With the score recovered, we hope that opera houses throughout Brazil and even abroad, as well as other universities that have projects to promote opera, may be interested in staging the work”, says Kettle.
