ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THIS PERFORMANCE
As a Mozarteum scholarship holder, Eduardo Frigatti studied with Krzysztof Penderecki, one of the greatest composers of the 20th century and one of the great names in Polish classical music. This experience was decisive for the man from Paraná who today teaches at the Marie Curie Sklodowska University, in Lublin, where he recently premiered In Memoriam, a work for string orchestra, performed under the guidance of Penderecki (1933-2020). Very well received, this composition earned Frigatti the invitation to create another work, for choir, organ and chamber orchestra, which will be his first symphony.
“I am very grateful to Mozarteum for providing me with a fundamental experience with Penderecki, an out-of-the-box artist, who showed me that it is possible to make dreams come true. Penderecki told me to keep composing, that it would be a shame if I stopped. I have worked hard to do justice to his words”, says Frigatti.
“Participating in the ‘Noite das Estrelas’ concert, promoted by the Mozarteum in 2018 at Sala São Paulo, also gave me important visibility, which helped to project myself. The work of the Mozarteum is relevant for the shows it performs and also for encouraging young musicians who, through scholarships, can qualify and propagate Brazilian art and culture internationally”.
Eduardo Frigatti was based on the poem of the same name by Edgar Allan Poe, based on a translation by Machado de Assis, to create the script for “The Crow”, which received animations inspired by German expressionist cinema, for its premiere at the Amazonas Opera Festival . This 23rd edition of the Amazon event is online, due to the new coronavirus pandemic.
